I was seeking happiness before that first drink

And then I knew, I had found my link

It hit the spot, all through those years

But then one day, my search turned to tears.

Well I went from job to job, drinkin’ and drugin’ all the time

I met some pretty women, they were always on my mind

Money was forever, my destiny was rich

I became obsessed, searching for happiness.

Booze was everything, that my mind needed then

Booze was the key to lock my happiness in

But then one day, that key, it wouldn’t fit.

God interviened, and my soul got lit.

When, I put the drink down, I hung on to the food

My relationships were suffering, treating me like a fool

My beliefs were a stage, to look the other way

And now I thank God, I found my way
